Chesfield Downs Seniors Section

Welcome to the Seniors’ Section.

The objectives of the Seniors Section are to encourage competitive golf, fun, and friendship. Golf is a sport driven by the rules, honesty and respect. We strive to treat all our members and guests with respect and dignity and to create an inclusive, friendly environment for all. The success of the Section depends on everyone playing their part.

The Seniors are a mixture of both male and female players and play every Monday apart from Bank Holidays, when we play on a Tuesday.

The Seniors have been competing in various competitions here at Chesfield for over 30 years and we hope to continue well onto the future.

We play a variety of different golf competition formats, some fun and others more serious. We hope you enjoy all of them.

We also compete against eight other local clubs on a home and away basis, each match followed by a meal, a drink and friendly banter.

New members should complete the application form obtained from Reception and either return a scanned copy to the Membership Secretary (for 2026, peter@pjbransby.plus.com) or tell him that you have left it at Reception. The annual subscription must be paid by 31 January each year, either cash or bank transfer (preferred, and details below). Only paid-up members can enter competitions after 1 February and only Qualified members of the Seniors Section (see below) are eligible to win competition prizes.  
From 2026, the annual subscription is £50. This is made up of £15 (as in previous years) as a basic subscription to cover the Section’s operating costs and £35 to cover entry into Seniors regular weekly competitions, for which there used to be a fee of £2 per competition. Payment of the membership fee also entitles members to play in interclub matches (see above) and to participate in the Section’s social events.

Members of the Section value the social side of golf and we try to be friendly and welcoming. Meeting up for a drink or a coffee after a competition round is an important part of the Section’s activities and strongly encouraged. The Captain will present prizes to winners normally every two months on a Monday after golf.
